Sad outcome to search for Lantz Hare

,

Dan Mitchell, minister of Lantz Hare, explains how the teen's body was found 4 days after a tornado in Joplin, Missouri.

JOPLIN, Missouri (CNN) – A Missouri mother said today that her 16-year-old son was killed by this week's powerful tornado, one of scores who have been confirmed dead even as authorities try to track down many others who are still considered missing.

Michelle Hare told CNN that her son Lantz, who was ripped from a car Sunday night by winds exceeding 200 mph in Joplin, is dead and his body has been located.

In the wrenching hours and days since the tornado, the boy's father, Mike Hare, said he'd searched hospitals and continually called his son's cell phone, getting no answer.

"It rang for the first day and a half, and now it goes straight to voice mail. But just in case he gets it, I want him to know his dad loves him," the father said earlier this week.

[editor's note: Michael Hare made two live appearances this week on CNN's "In The Arena," pleading for help in finding his son (watch them at the bottom of this posting].

Lantz Hare was among those on the list, released Thursday by the Missouri Department of Public Safety, of 232 people from the southwest Missouri city for whom missing persons reports have been filled out.

My heart breaks for his family. Maybe because I have a teenage son. Maybe because Lantz reminded me of my godchild, my nephew, my heart connected with his story. Beautiful Lantz, watch over your family until they can be with you again.

This actually makes me angry! This devasted family had to suffer, drive all over Missouri and WONDER where there son was for DAYS while the whole time he was at the morgue??! Really!?? I understand the confusion but this really unaccepable. My heart goes out to this family and I am praying they will find stregth. Keep up the good work, Anderson Cooper on covering this mess and holding the officials responsible...Someone NEEDS TO!

I was so hoping that he would be found alive. I have three sons and I could feel the pain that his Dad was in not knowing whether his son was alive. My heart breaks for Lantz's family and for everyone who lost a loved one in the tornado.

As a parent of a 16 yr old son I was saddened to hear Lantz had died. I work in the medical field & have seen many deaths, but the death of a child really hurts. No words can express how the families feel. Nothing will bring their son back. Who do you blame? Lantz died knowing his family loved him. Live each day as if it were your last. Treat people with kindness you never know who will be there to save your life. To the Hare family remember Lantz is in your hearts. He may not be here physically but is watching over you in Heaven.

I grieve for Lantz Hare's family. I wanted so much for him to be found alive. I'm a mother of two boys, one who is 21 and one who is 17. I can't imagine a life without either of them. Tonight, as I learned about this sad and tragic news of Lantz's death, I cried....as if he were my own. I would like to reach out and send my condolence to Lantz Hare's family.

My heart goes out to Lantz's family and to all the families who have lost loved ones in these recent storms. May the Lord provide them with the strength to face these difficult days and comfort their broken hearts.

I cannot imagine the pain these families are dealing with right now. I hope that somehow they will be able to rebuild their lives and hold on to hope. God bless them all.

This is so sad. Me and my mother were watching this story on the news praying that the kid would be found alive. When we found out he wasnt it...we all prayed for his soul, and prayed for the family. We are also praying for everyone else affected by this.

Is Anderson Cooper's job really to go around finding fault in everything he sees – - and in confusion find someone to blame? Disasters are wrought with confusion. The fine folks of Joplin, MO have been working their tails off since Sunday, and while it is sad that Lance's father ran around in a frantic panic trying to locate his son, blaming it on the folks working with the deceased at the morgue is a cheap shot at best. To end the confusion complained of here; maybe Anderson can get a video team to head into the University site being used as a morgue and just take video of all the deceased, he can then play those gruesome photos on CNN and we can all save families like Lance's the pain of running all over the place to find their family members. They can just view the video. Blame someone – and let Anderson take credit for outing the deficiencies. That's the CNN way. I expect no less. Governor Nixon has asked that the I.D. process regarding the deceased be eased to expedite the process for family members. The State Emergency Management Agency and a whole host of others are facing unprecedented challenges, but the generosity and out pouring of love and support from across the country is helping to ease the situation. I am sad at the loss of Lance's young life. But I find no value in taking pot shots at the process less then seven days into this horrific ordeal.

I am the father of 1 and the father figure to 4 other kids ranging from 8 to 29. I was deeply touched after watching the CNN interview of Lantz's father. That sinking feeling of being powerless. I like the rest was hoping the best.

I cried as I read the sad outcome of this heart wrenching story. My heart is breaking for this family. Why this young man touched so many people is unknown, but I wish the best for his family, friends and community as they try to move forward.

Capture and torture are only some US gnmerovent practices. US tax payers not only help continue it by way of ignorance and tax money, many of them enjoy it in other ways as well. Like through TV programs, video games and etc. Anything that helps promote and continue fear, hate, greed, lust, ignorance seems normal for closed mind heart majority. An ancient psychological recycling of teaching prisoners to continue being prisoners and masters to continue mastering. U R Change.VA:F [1.9.9_1125]please wait...VA:F [1.9.9_1125](from 0 votes)
