Congressman: China's Hu a 'gangster'

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) says China should be treated as a "gangster regime that murders their own people."

Also, click here for the link to video of President Reagan's appearance in China in 1984 as mentioned during the show.

CNN is so misleading and Biased. Why parker/spitzer cut the video clip later in the program where Jeffery Sachs blames the congressman's crude word and unfair comments about the China's achievement in last three decades which no other country had done. I am so disappointed about this congressman+CNN political show.

Jeffery Sachs 's interview is actual on the website, but it's funny that his blame on congressman's part got cut.

Very true indeed, well the fact is many people know about these things and only few of them takes responsibility and necessary measures to save the world "peace" (though doesnt exist yet). The problem is i dont get it that why chinese government is taking such a long time to realise the importance of democratic and freedom. Their politicians are so worried about material growth of the nation but think about future Chinese people, they are definitely going to suffer when finally whole world go against CHINA- at that time "Hu" and other stubborns wont be there to blame on!!

FINALLY, somebody calls you out on your slanted biased editing of sound bites to make YOUR point!! The Congressman is right on about the Chinese leaders they are communist thugs who kill anyone that gets in their way!! Ironically, Senator Reid probably agrees and seemed to say so when he correctly and bravely called the Chinese President what he truly is today – A DICTATOR!!! The Chinese have and will continue to eat Obama's lunch and ALL American's will pay for his naivete!!! That's the CHANGE most American's DIDN'T vote for!!!!!!

In many ways you are right! We are becoming LESS free everyday because the government that my father worked for for over 50 years tells us we must give up our freedoms if we want to be secure!! Ben Franklin warned us that if we EVER gave up freedom for security we would deserve nor have neither!!! He was right!!

I switched to CNN because it seemed more balanced than msnbc or Fox, but to have those two state dinner crashers on tonight hit a low. I don't think I'll watch the Parker/Spitzer show.

Sorry, Elliot and Kathleen, but that dude is what we used to call a "roaring you-know-what". Terrible guest. Thanks for trying, though. This was instructive of his issues.

There was a guest on today. I think her name was Nina Hachigan (caught on the fly). She seemed to believe this is a zero sum game. She may believe that in theory, but I don't see that on the ground. In reality, we have small business owners, like metal roofers, that can't get metal because it's going to China. And farmers a few years ago now that wanted to plant wheat, but couldn't get seed (speculating on whether it went to war countries so they won't grow opium or something). It's not exactly a zero sum game. The resources in the background seem to be where all the trauma is.

Do we have freedom of speech? Wouldn't we be fired if we actually spoke out against anything that our employer wants politically?

And most news organizations make money from their advertisers...so how much truth would we get? (Journalists might know the answer to that. Seems like something they would have in school.) If we are truly seekers of truth...where would we go today? I don't see many places that we could go to for the truth. maybe wikileaks? not sure.

we can atleast express our ideas in america or canada, we can talk about things we want to talk, we can go on non-violent protests without us getting hurt, we have access to everything on the internet. In China however, you aren't allowed to express your ideas, just like the congressman says, sticking your headup will get you thrown in jail

If Hu's the gangster, why are you over 10 times more likely to be in prison in the US compared to China?

US black incarceration rate: 4,749 inmates per 100,000
US white non-Hispanic incarceration rate: 708 inmates per 100,000
European average incarceration rate: 147 inmates per 100,000
    China's incarceration rate: 118 inmates per 100,000

That China statistic would be wrong even if it were possible to get accurate data on the Chinese prison population. It's not. Not for the official ones, and sure as hell not for the thousands of "black jails" (hei jianyu) where "sensitive" prisoners go without trial. Or mental hospitals where religious / political dissidents are sent. Or "re-education through labor" (laojiao) camps, etc.

Is this from a reliable source?? and btw even if this was true, you have to consider the confounds. The U.S imprison people over small things like marihuana, drugs, etc. But however bail outs are easy and lawyers are easy to access, this is how the country is, however imprisonment in China is a big thing, people imprisoned are mostly those who speak their ideas and those who are minorities that the chinese government are not fond of. And again like the congressman said, and there's evidence from chinese hospitals itself, they beat the prisoners, and take their organs to sell them in the chinese hospital, search the video, it was taken by bbc, i'm pretty sure you'll find it :)

All governments did that at one time or another. We did too a hundred years ago.
THey may do that to their own from time to time, we are killing a lot more people in wars nowadays than they are everyday.

That's right. This is a gangster regime. My parents church had a visitor from China. She was in tears telling how their underground church in China was torn down by the police and people were hurt. There are many underground churches in China because otherwise you have to preach according to their rule, not your bible.

It is so relieved to hear someone talking truth, rather than hiding it because of their own material interest.

Finally, there is someone in the U.S. government spoke out loud and clear in front of the Chinese government. I am a Chinese in Canada, I love my culture, but that government is evil. I understand this is a strong word, but the Communist party is tricky. When dealing with the Chinese Communist Party, you need to stand up tall, do not bow to their money. They will just treat you like a sheep. You wanna their respect, let them feel your power.

Shouldn't Dana be considered for President? He is a straight shooter; although he is often maligned by the press. The Reagan principles of government are a familiar theme for him, since he was a speech writer for Reagan. I think he is by far the most gifted of all who serve in both Houses of Congress....WAKE UP
