David Stockman: Heretic or truth-teller?

Ronald Reagan's budget director David Stockman throws a pitch fork into GOP traditional doctrine on taxes and defense.

"For 30 years," Stockman said, "both parties have been telling the public that we could have this massive government, 24 percent of GDP, all these programs, we could be an imperial power policing the world, and we don't have to raise the tax revenue needed to support it."

    Elliot Spitzer,
You are fantastic. Thank you for bringing on David Stockman. And thank you for your questioning of Hensarling –apparently it takes guts these days to do what you did. Someone needs to point out the cynical lying hypocrisy people like him practice, in talking about reducing the deficit but not wanting to actually cut anything. Keep up the great work. Love it.

I agree with you 100%. Spitzer and Stockman were on again last night – and scared me to death! But sadly it is all true.

This guy is truly brainy and experienced but the lady from Illinois hit a chord when she said that the challenges we face should not fall on the backs of our elderly – being from a retirement community i know that if you screw them you screw the schools – they're the ones with substantial homes and pay alot of property taxes and the only thing worse than screwing rich retirees is screwing poor ones.

A much needed adult conversation. We as a nation can concern ourselves about whether Obama is a Muslim or O'Donnell is a witch, but the real areas of concern – the ones about which we must have an adult conversation – are some of the ones addressed by Stockman.

In simple words, Stockman, conservative republican, made more sense than all others put together.
    1) stop policing the Globe, cuts on defense expenditures, 2) introduce means-testing re:social security,3)saving banks a huge mistake – now we all see it...4)central bank stop manipulating the economy and currency.

Did you expect this from David Stockman? There's hope yet!!
